This compact house is carefully sited in a young forest between a sun-filled meadow and views out to the Puget Sound. The living spaces open broadly to the south, capturing the sun and providing access to the grassy meadow. To the north, the living room clad in rusting steel cantilever's boldly, reaching toward the view. Screening the living areas from the driveway, a weathered cedar clad bedroom box slips under the primary roof, letting light slip in toward the kitchen. Within the bedroom box, an intimate landscaped court is carved out for a secluded experience of nature. This home combines rugged natural materials with a modernistic simplicity – a modest home deeply integrated into the land.
