The opportunity to develop a new university allows for the adoption of relevant contemporary planning and architecture that respects the culture, climate, and supports the over arching vision of KSU. The use of modern architecture and materials reflect physically the cutting-edge curriculum and education of the University while creating a simple and powerful icon. The state-of-the-art building will be equipped to teach the most current curriculum and attract faculty from around the world.

The facility is marked by functional efficiencies paired with flexibility which define over time the hallmark of world class academic and research buildings. The ability to transform a lab, classroom, patient room, or procedure room from one type of related function to another is absolutely necessary if the campus is to stay abreast of the newest innovations in on-going research and modes of education.

Inspired by modern principles, the design of the Health Sciences building addresses the harsh climate of the region through sustainable strategies. The importance of sustainability has come to the forefront of architectural and environmental discussions, with specific emphasis on reducing the impact of humans on the earth. The most prominent strategies implemented in the building design are the roof covering and front curved glass wall. These elements work together to provide extensive daylighting to the front atria while protecting the glass and interiors from direct sunlight, in turn reducing energy loads for lighting and air conditioning, while the roof shades the interior courtyards making them more suitable for use during hot days.
